Further Information
Research focus: My research is focussed on the the perception of pain in the human brain. I am using neuroimaging (MRI) and neurophysiology (EEG) to study the processes that generate a subjects’ individual percept of pain. I am pursuing two lines of research:
Which processes in the brain represent successful pain relief? The processes might be targeted in future therapeutic interventions.
Assessing the cortical activity patterns of pain processing that are unique for each individual.
Key words: pain, perception, neuroimaging, neurophysiology (EEG), brain mapping, pain attenuation
